Destroying The Westmount Neighbourhood

The Zoning Bylaw 20001 is destroying the Westmount neighborhood which is one of the oldest residential subdivisions in Edmonton with many historical buildings and mature trees. The by-law led to removal of many decades old trees creating negative impact to the environment; for example, over half a dozen of decades old tree next to my house were removed to make room to build a 8-unit monster building (see attached photo). The introduction of mid-block, 8-unit apartment-like buildings represents a radical departure from the pattern of the neighborhood. The 8 fold increase of leaving unit will put a lot of stress to parking spaces and utility infrastructure.

The construction of the monster apartment-like buildings has been very disturbing. The large construction vehicles frequently blocked the street and cars from the large number of crew members frequently used up almost all the park spaces near the construction site. A crew member even demanded us not to park in front of our house threatening it might get damaged by their construction vehicles. The crew members frequently walk through our lawn to enter the construction site. Our plants, tree and lawn were damaged by the crew's activities. The noises of the construction have lasted from 7 am to 7 pm often 7 days a week for many months. We need to constantly clean up the trash blown from the construction site.
